DAY ONE:     ADDIS---BAHIR DAR

Fly to Bahir Dar, a busy town on the shore of the lake, and transfer to your hotel. 

Afternoon enjoy boat ride over Lake Tana to Zege Peninsula to visit the 15th century Monastery of

DAY TWO: BAHIR DAR

In the morning, drive 35km east of the town to the Blue Nile Falls set in rolling countryside

Countryside unspoiled by tourism, which is a real spectacle. Afternoon, enjoy and more sightseeing of Bahir Dar. O/N Tana Hotel or similar.

DAY THREE: BAHIR DAR---GONDAR

Morning drive to Gondar through the spectacular Tara Gedam Mountain ranges. En route, you will see the 16th c. Castle of Emperor Sartse Dengel and drive further to Gondar. After lunch, you will see the Church of Debre Birhan Selassie which is painstakingly decorated by a local monk and historical sites such as the royal palace of Emperor Fasiledas, The Quesquam enclosure, The Bath Palace of Emperor Fasiledas. DAY FOUR: GONDAR—SIEMIN MOUNTAINS—GONDAR

Drive to Simien Mountain (100kms from Gondar), Where the head quarter of the Simien Mountain National Park is found. Here we pay the entrance fees; Scout and Local guide will accompany us. Then we continue driving to Sankaber (37kms) the first campsite of the National park. On this drive you will gain your first impression of the scale and the beauty of this highland region, the extraordinary scenery, enjoying the endemic Gelada Baboon and the bone breaker giant bird called Lammergeyer roaring around, and then Drive back to Gondar, enroute visiting Fellasha village on the way.  O/N Goha hotel or similar.

DAY FIVE: GONDAR---LALIBELA

After a relaxing morning, transfer to Gondar Airport to fly to Lalibela and be transferred to your hotel then, Visit of Lalibela brings you to yet more wonder – The 3 groups rock-hewn churches (12 rock-hewn churches). O/N Tukul Village or Mountain View hotel.

DAY SIX: LALIBELA (Excursions @ Asheten Mariam or Naacute Leab church)

OPTION I

In the morning, after an early breakfast trek (half way mule or horse ride) to the 13th c rock hewn monastery of Asheten Mariam (over 9,800 feet or 3000 meters high). It is about 8km from Lalibela. The road is very steeply looked like a twisted rope hugged on the wall but very beautiful scenery with a rewarding experience. You hike from 1 - 1 and half hours or on horse ride. OPTION II

In the morning drive 6km outside of Lalibela town to visit the cave (rock-hewn churches) of Na acute Leab church.  The monastery is named after its constructor, the nephew and successor of King Lalibela. Then drive back to Lalibela town then drive back and visit the city and livelihood of the Lalibela people. O/N Mt.View hotel or Tukul village.

DAY SEVEN: LALIBELA---AXUM

Be transferred to Lalibela Airport for your fly to Axum. You will be transferred to your hotel. Then, you will start the sightseeing of historical sites in Axum such as the Stele Park, Tombstones of King Kaleb, King Gebre Meskal and King Bazen and the Churches of Mary Zion, the Archaeological Museum and the Bath and the Palace of Queen Sheba. DAY EIGHT: AXUM (Excursions @ Yeha and Debre Damo)

In the morning, after an early breakfast drive to Debre Damo Monastry in the way visit Yeha Temple and some of the rock hewn churches. Late after noon, drive back tom Axum for overnight stay at Consular or similar hotel.

DAY NINE: AXUM —ADDIS

Be transferred to Axum Airport to fly back to Addis. PM city tour in Addis to visit museums, churches and shopping such as National Museum, Natural History Museum, St.George Cathedral and St. Trinity Cathedral, Shopping  at African Grand Market, called Merkato and others if the time will be permitted. O/N Addis Ababa.

DAY TEN: ADDIS---ARBAMINCH

Early morning, drive to the south via Addis-Butajira road. Here, you will visit the archaeological site of Melka Kunture, Tiya Stele and through the beautiful mountainous country you will drive 35 km through another junction to visit the tribal village of Chencha. This tribe is known for its art of weaving and unique house building. Here you will see also the preparation of false banana how it is scrapped and used to be bread and porridge. Then drive to Arba Minch. O/N at Paradise lodge or similar.

DAY ELEVEN: ARBAMINCH---TURMI

Day drive to Turmi en route visiting of different tribal villages and their way of life, on the way, you meet the tribes of Arbore, Konso villages and their age old astonishing terracing practices and also attend one of the most unique & colorful market of Monday market of Turmi dominated by Hamer people . O/N Buska Lodge or similar.

 

DAY TEWELVE: TURMI—Murulle---TURMI

Day drive to Murulle to visit the Karo village at Korecho. After a picnic lunch, you will cross the Omo River to visit the Bume people at Kangate and also attend one of the most unique & colorful market of village of Dimeka, more than three tribes congregated for Tuesday Market. Then, drive back to Turmi. O/N Buska Lodge or similar.

DAY THIRTEEN: TURMI—Omorate---TURMI

Morning drive through the lush forest to Omorate. Then, crossing the Omo River with wooden ferry to visit the Dasenetch tribal villages. O/N Buska lodge or similar.

DAY FOURTEEN: TURMI--JINKA

Day drive to Jinka en route visiting of different tribal villages and their way of life and also you meet the tribes of Giddole, Derashe, Konso, Tsemay, Benna and Ari. And also  attend the village of Key-Afer, more than three tribes congregated for Thursday market, namely Ari, Benna, Hammar, Tsemay and Mali with their unique decoration can easily identified here. Then drive back to Jinka in the afternoon visit of Jinka Museum. O/N Jinka Resort or similar.

 

DAY FIFTEEN: JINKA---Mago National Park----JINKA

Drive to the Mursi people by crossing the Mago National Park. The Mursi are mostly known who adorned by using clay and wooden lip plate on their lip and ear lobes. Then drive back to Jinka Resort or similar.

DAY SIXTEEN: JINKA-- KONSO--ARBAMINCH

Drive to Arbaminch on the way, you will visit the Konso astonishing walled terracing and villages’ settlement which is registered by UNESCO as world heritage sites in 2011. O/N Paradise Lodge or similar.

DAY SEVENTEEN: ARBAMINCH--ADDIS ABABA--- DEPARTURE

Day drive back to Addis Ababa through the Great Rift Valley Lakes and enjoying their scenic beauty along with the different species of birds. There is also the Abijjata  Shalla National Park that comprises the two soda lakes together with their abundant bird life and the Ostrich Farm that worth a visit on your way.  Arrive Addis around 5 p.m.

DAY THREE:   GONDAR---SEMIEN Mountains---DEBAREK

Morning drive to the marvelous Semien Mountains. You will have a short stop at the breath taking scenery of Kossoye before reaching Debark. At Debark (which is 100 km away from Gondar), you will collect the entrance fees, a park guide and park ranger to drive further into the inner part of the park. From Chinkwanit, where the spectacular scenery begins, you will start your first day trekking following the abyss. You will enjoy the views and the herds of unique GeladaBaboons. Then, drive to Chenek to see the endemic Walia Ibex and the breath-taking scenery of Enatye and Imet Gogo. Here, the elevation is 3600 meters above sea level and the flora and the fauna is becoming unique. Continue driving further to Buahit to VIEW the majestic Ras Dashen-the highest pick of Ethiopia (4543 meters above sea-level). Then drive back to Debarek town for overnight. DAY FOUR:     SEMIEN---GONDAR

In the morning, after a relaxing breakfast, drive back to Gondar. O/N Goha hotel or similar.

DAY FIVE: GONDAR---LALIBELA

After a relaxing morning, transfer to Gondar Airport to fly to Lalibela and be transferred to your hotel then, Visit of Lalibela brings you to yet more wonder – The 3 groups rock-hewn churches (12 rock-hewn churches). O/N Roha hotel.

DAY SIX:   LALIBELA---AXUM

Be transferred to Lalibela Airport for your flight to Axum. You will be transferred to your hotel. DAY EIGHT: MEKELLE--HAMEDELA

Early morning drive to the Dalol depression with Land Cruisers. Therefore, we will have one Land Cruisers for you and one extra for the cook, armed rangers and for road guides. You will pick two armed rangers and one road guide at Berhaile and en route will have a chance to meet the salt Caravans. O/N camping at Hamdela.

DAY NINE:   HAMEDELA--ERTALE

Day drive to Kursewad. In the late afternoon, trek to Ertale to see the bubbling magma in the night. If the group unable to trek by themselves, they can hire a Camel by themselves. The payment may be from 400-500 Ethiopian birr (29-35 USD) for a day. The group will pass the night at the hill top to observe the active volcano. In the morning at 5:00 am, they will trek down to Kursewad. O/N Camping at Ertale.

DAY TEN:   ERTALE--HAMEDELA

Drive back to Hamdela crossing 90 Km desert sand road. O/N Hamdela Camping.

DAY ELEVEN: HAMEDELA ---MEKELLE--ADDIS

Morning drive to Lake Asale where you meet people extracting the bar salt from the salt plain. Bar Salt used as a currency in the 18th C. Ethiopia and Asale was the center for curving bar salt as equal to minting coins. In the afternoon, drive to the Dalol depression which is the lowest depression on Earth and the landscape covered by colorful phosphate. Then drive to Mekele along the scenic route and enjoying the Caravans on the road and then be transferred to Mekelle airport for fly back to Addis at 19:30 hrs. O/N in Addis.

In the afternoon, you will have a boat ride on Lake Chamo to see the Hippos and Nile Crocodiles. O/N at Paradise Lodge or similar.

 

DAY TWENTY:     ARBAMINCH--YABELLO

Drive to through the Woyto plain and visiting the Elbore tribal village, also visit Konso villages and their age old astonishing terracing practices, then further drive to Yabello along the scenic route, on the way visit of Borenna Oromo People at their respected village. DAY TWENTY ONE:   YABELLO- HAWASSA

Early morning drive Hawassa via Yirgalem, on the way you visit the Salt mines of the Borena people which they call it ‘Elsod’ and to the singing wells of the Borena people. And also the coffee forest at Yirgalem and Dila, and then visiting the stele of Tutu Fella, the old burial site of the Gedeo people . O/N at Lewi Resort/Haile Resort.

 

DAY TWENTY TWO:   HAWASSA—LANGANO

In the morning, visiting the local fish market in the Hawassa. And then continue drive back to Langano on the way, enjoy and visiting the Rift valley lakes; Abiyta –Shalla Lakes National Park, Lake Langano. O/N Sabana Lodge or similar. 

DAY TWENTY THREE:   LANGANO—ADDIS--DERARTURE

In the morning stay in Langano, enjoying and swimming and in the afternoon depart to Addis via Debrezeit, en route visit Lake Ziway’s aquatic birds and continue to crater lakes of Debre Zeit and have your lunch there and then drive back to Addis.  In the late afternoon, the tour will be end up.

DAY SEVEN: TURMI---Omorate---TURMI

Morning drive to Omorate through the lush forest. Then you will cross the majestic Omo River through wooden ferry and walk five minutes to meet the Dasenetch Tribal Village. They built unique termite mound like huts and grain stores.  In the afternoon drive back to Turmi; on the way attend the colorful Monday Market in Turmi, dominated by Hamer people.  O/N  Buska Lodge or similar.

 

DAY EIGHT: TURMI---KONSO

DAY NINE:KONSO---LANGANO

In the morning depart to Langano, via Wolayta Sodo town. En route you will visit Senkele Sanctuary, shelter for endemic mammals’ Swayne’s Hartebeest and others.  Before you reach Langano, you will also visit Great Rift Valley Lakes and enjoying their scenic beauty along with the different species of birds. There is also Abijjata  Shalla Lakes National Park that comprises the two soda lakes together with their abundant bird life and the Ostrich Farm that worth a visit on your way. DAY TEN: LANGANO----AWASH

After early morning breakfast drive to Awash, on the way, you will visit Lake Ziway with abundant aquatic birdlife and further drive to Awash to visit Awash National Park & game drive. Among the mammals; Beisa oryx, soemmering’s gazelle and salt’s dik dik, lesser and grater kudu, warthog anubis baboons and the endemic can be seen. Bird species such as yellow-throated spurfowl, Abyssinian roller, carmine bee-eater can also be seen.

DAY ELEVEN: AWASH---HARAR

After early morning breakfast drive to Harar, en route visiting scenic eastern highlands and mountains, in the evening entertain the Hyena man feeding Hyenas in the evening. Hyena Feeding is one of the old traditions passed from generation to generation in the Harar and vicinity which you mightn’t find anywhere else in the country. DAY TWELVE: HARAR

Full day; visit of the Walled City of Harar. You will start visiting the site seeing which includes The Old town, museum, Rimbaud’s House, Harari traditional House and visit Colorful multiplication of ethnic groups market which the Harar is known for. O/N heritage plaza Hotel   

DAY THIRTEEN: HARAR---DIRE DAWA

In the morning drive southeast 17km to visit Koremi village and visit the colorful market of Hareri, Argoba and Oromo tribes. Then continue driving 20km to Babile, valley of Marvels and back to Harar and Diredawa. In your way you visit Awaday Chat/Qat market and then continue driving to eastern Highlands (which is starting from Jijiga to Chercher or Chiro OR Ase be Teferi. DAY FOURTEEN: DIRE DAWA—AFAR VILLAGE

After breakfast, you will attend Kefira Market and continue drive to Afar Village; on the way you also visit scenic view. In the late afternoon you will arrive at Afar Village (around Bilen  Lodge), you will see Game View at Aleghedi Sanctuary: the area  around this  lodge has a similar combination of habitats the national park including riverine forest, acacia woodland , savanna and wetlands, and harbours a similar variety of birds. DAY FIFTEEN: AFAR VILLAGE---WOLDIYA

After breakfast, drive to Woldia; on the way you will see scenic view and Afar and Amhara people and village. O/N Arsema Hotel or Similar.

 

DAY SIXTEEN: WOLDIYA----LALIBELA

After breakfast, drive to through the scenic route all the way to Lalibela, before reach to Lalibela  town you will see   Genete Mariam Churches.  O/N Roha Hotel or similar.

DAY THREE: GONDAR----LALIBELA.

DAY FOUR: LALIBELA---AXUM

In the morning, transfer to Axum airport to fly to Axum, and drive to your hotel. After quick refreshment, sightseeing of historical sites in Axum such as the stele park, tombstones of king Kaleb, King Gebre Meskal and king Bazen and the churches of Mary Zion, the archaeological museum, the bath and the palace of Queen Sheba. DAY FIVE: AXUM —ADDIS

Be transferred to Axum Airport to fly back to Addis. PM city tour in Addis to visit museums, churches and shopping such as National Museum, Natural History Museum, St.George Cathedral and St. Trinity Cathedral, Shopping and others. O/N Addis.

DAY SIX: ADDIS---ARBAMINCH

Early morning, drive to the south via Addis-Butajira road. Here, you will visit the archaeological site of Melka Kunture, Tiya Stele and through the beautiful mountainous country you will drive 35 km through another junction to visit the tribal village of Chencha. This tribe is known for its art of weaving and unique house building. Here you will see also the preparation of false banana how it is scrapped and used to be bread and porridge. Then drive to Arba Minch. O/N at Paradise lodge or similar.

DAY SEVEN: ARBAMINCH---TURMI

Day drive to Turmi en route visiting of different tribal villages and their way of life, on the way, you meet the tribes of Arbore, Konso villages and their age old astonishing terracing practices and also attend one of the most unique & colorful market of Monday market of Turmi dominated by Hamer people . O/N Buska Lodge or similar.

 

DAY EIGHT: Tuesday TURMI—Murulle---TURMI

Day drive to Murulle to visit the Karo village at Korecho. After a picnic lunch, you will cross the Omo River to visit the Bume people at Kangate and also attend one of the most unique & colorful market of village of Dimeka, more than three tribes congregated for Tuesday Market. Then, drive back to Turmi. O/N Buska Lodge or similar.

DAY NINE: TURMI—Omorate---TURMI

Morning drive through the lush forest to Omorate. Then, crossing the Omo River with wooden ferry to visit the Dasenetch tribal villages. O/N Buska lodge or similar.

DAY TEN: TURMI--JINKA

Day drive to Jinka en route visiting of different tribal villages and their way of life and also you meet the tribes of Giddole, Derashe, Konso, Tsemay, Benna and Ari. And also  attend the village of Key-Afer, more than three tribes congregated for Thursday market, namely Ari, Benna, Hammar, Tsemay and Mali with their unique decoration can easily identified here. Then drive back to Jinka in the afternoon visit of Jinka Museum. O/N Jinka Resort or similar.

 

DAY ELEVEN: JINKA---Mago National Park----JINKA

Drive to the Mursi people by crossing the Mago National Park. The Mursi are mostly known who adorned by using clay and wooden lip plate on their lip and ear lobes. Then drive back to Jinka Resort or simiar.

DAY TWELVE: JINKA-- KONSO--ARBAMINCH

Drive to Arbaminch on the way, you will visit the Konso astonishing walled terracing and villages’ settlement which is registered by UNESCO as world heritage

DAY THIRTEEN: ARBAMINCH--ADDIS ABABA

Day drive back to Addis Ababa through the Great Rift Valley Lakes and enjoying their scenic beauty along with the different species of birds. There is also the Abijjata  Shalla National Park that comprises the two soda lakes together with their abundant bird life and the Ostrich Farm that worth a visit on your way.

DAY 01: ADDIS-----BAHIR DAR.  

In the early morning fly to Bahir Dar. Upon arrival meet Alpha staffs and be transferred to your hotel. After quick refreshment, drive 35km to Blue Nile Falls and to the Portuguese Bridge. In the afternoon boat trip to visit the 15th century Medieval Monasteries of the Zeghie Peninsula Ura Kidane Mihret and to the out let of the Blue Nile River. O/N Tana hotel or similar.

 

DAY 02: BAHIRDAR----GONDAR.  

N.B: There is no flight between Bahir Dar & Gondar

Morning drive 186km (asphalt) to Gondar through the spectacular Tara Gedam Mountain ranges. Enroute, you will see the 16th c. castle of Emperor Sarsa Dengel and drive further to Gondar. DAY 3: GONDAR—SEMIEN MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK 

 

In the morning drive 100km (asphalt) to Debark town then 37km (gravel) to the marvelous Semien Mountains. You will have a short stop at the breath taking scenery of Kossoye before reaching Debark. At Debark (which is 100 km away from Gondar), you will collect the entrance fees, a park guide and park ranger to drive further into the inner part of the park. From Chinkwanit, where the spectacular scenery begins, you will start your first day trekking following the abyss. You will enjoy the views and the herds of unique GeladaBaboons. 

Then, drive to Chenek to see the endemic Walia Ibex and the breath-taking scenery of Enatye and Imet Gogo. Here, the elevation is 3600 meters above sea level and the flora and the fauna is becoming unique. Continue driving further to Buahit to VIEW the majestic Ras Dashen-the highest pick of Ethiopia (4620meters above sea-level). You will be dropped with guides and hike for about 3 hours before you reach the lodge. O/N Semien lodge in Sankaber (3200m ASL). 

DAY 4: SEMIEN MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK ---GONDAR

 

After a relaxing breakfast, drive back to Gondar, en route visiting Fellasha Villages and Scenic view.  O/N Goha hotel or similar.

 

DAY 5: GONDAR---LALIBELA

 

After a relaxing morning, transfer to Gondar Airport to fly to Lalibela and be transferred to your hotel then, Visit of Lalibela brings you to yet more wonder – The 3 groups rock-hewn churches (12 rock-hewn churches). O/N  Roha Hotel.

 

DAY 6: LALIBELA---AXUM

Be transferred to Lalibela Airport for your fly to Axum. You will be transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, you will have a boat ride on Lake Chamo to see the Hippos and Nile Crocodiles. O/N Paradise Lodge or similar. 

 

DAY 15:   ARBAMINCH---WONDOGENT

 

After breakfast drive to Wondogent along the scenic road, In the afternoon walking in the forest which is heaven for bird life and relax in the natural hot spring bath’s and swimming pool. The surrounding vegetation and favorable climate offers great relaxation. Colombus and velvet Monkey are frequently observed, O/N at Wabi Shebelle Hotel.

 

DAY 16:   WONDOGENT-- ADDIS

 

After breakfast drive back to Addis via Shashamene with lunch stops through the rift valley lakes enjoying their scenic beauty along with the different species of birds.  There is also the Abijjata Shalla Lakes National Park that comprises the two Soda Lakes together with their abundant bird life, Antelopes, and the Ostrich Farm that worth to be visited and also Lake Ziway; abundant aquatic bird life. After visit and enjoyed at this ideal places drive back to Addis en route visiting the creator Lakes around Debrezeit before arriving in Addis. O/N at Addis.
